Mixed-use Development Still a Possibility for Forsyth County

Forsyth County: Real Estate Growth -vs- Traffic Congestion

Forsyth County commissioners have scheduled a special called meeting for October 7, 2011  to consider an amended development agreement proposed by Taubman Centers Inc.

In 2008, Taubman Centers Inc. and Forsyth County had reached an agreement for a regional mall, office space, hotels and residential units to be built on a 164 acre tract of land sitting between Union Hill and McFarland roads.

Since that time, Taubman has requested an extension and that a sewer agreement be put in place.

As a local real estate agent I look to this a positive step for the Forsyth County market in terms of growth –vs- stagnation.  However, those living in the immediate area, may see it differently in terms of traffic congestion.

Either way, it will be interesting to see how things play out on October 7th.
